They consulted the vet, I bought her a harness that went under her arms, not on her belly, so the vet approved it. They initially told us we would not be able to walk her as she needed a harness and could not have one due to still having milk, and I told them that definitely would not work if she was "high energy". The shelter knew that we did not have a fenced yard. So we had no idea until we got into this that she wasn't a good fit. We wrongly assumed that she would be happy with multiple long walks (an hour each walk) per day and time on the screened porch, but she was not. This was a "foster to adopt" situation, as we had inquired about adopting her, and were called by the shelter and asked if we wanted her for a couple of weeks to see if it was a fit.
